The Principle of Affirmation: Fill Your Life With Love

The Principle of Affirmation: Fill Your Life With Love
by Rick Warren

“Don’t just pretend that you love others. Really love them. Hate what is evil. Stand on the side of the good. Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honoring each other.” Romans 12:9-10 (NLT)
"When you make other people's problems your problems, God will take care of yours in turn."

If you want to make a permanent change in your life, you need to fill your life with love. Why? Because nothing invigorates, revitalizes, renews or refreshes your life like love. It gives you power to help you make it through the long haul and keep you from giving up halfway.

I’m not just talking about receiving love from others to help you with your change. I’m also talking about giving love to others and supporting them in the changes they want to make. When you make other people’s problems your problems, God will take care of yours in turn.

Look at the example of Job’s life. He lost everything – his family, his health, his wealth. At the end, God restored everything that Job had lost – he even doubled it. Why? It wasn’t because Job prayed for himself. It was because Job prayed for his friends, the very friends who had been criticizing him. When Job prayed for them, God took care of Job.

That’s why you need to be in a small group! Not just so your needs are met, but so you can meet the needs of other people. And when you focus on helping them, God will take care of you.
